- Extenuating circumstances as judged by the principal
- Students will be permitted to make up work missed during excused absences.

- Students in grades kindergarten through eight who miss 10 or more days of school for the year, whether excused or unexcused, and who have completed little or no make-up work, may be considered for retention.
- An extended absence form is available at the school to make arrangements when a student is going to be out of school for more than five days. Parents are to obtain approval prior to the absences whenever possible.
- Absences for family vacations will not be excused unless the principal gives special approval prior to the trip.
-
Excessive absences will be dealt with according to the policy found here.
Please work with us for prompt reporting of student absences. Call the school beginning at 7:00 am, (703) 221-2118 when your student is going to be absent, and send in a note explaining the absence within 2 days of your student’s return to school. Teachers will cooperate in allowing students to make up work for excused absences, however it is the responsibility of the student to ascertain, complete, and turn in any missed work by the required date.
